  1. What a great group of students to have been honored by receiving Brett’s scholarship. I have had the pleasure of having many of them in my classes at CHS. Some, like Nick Casillas, also won the Whitehead Scholarship in honor of my father. Others, like the Manhardt students, I had as students or as their monitor. Many, like Rebecca Roy and Courtney Smith, I enjoyed working with as part of student elections. I heartily support your idea of an honored staff member for each, what a great pat on the back for those teachers!
As I finish my second year at Archbishop Murphy High School, I look back on the great students I had. I am so pleased to have had Brett as an eight grade student in my sophomore biology class. What a joy!

  2. I am so proud to have been one of the recipients of this scholarship. Brett was such a special person, so kind and warm, always smiling (not unlike the wonderful family that survives him). I keep a picture of him hanging in my apartment, to remind me of the kind of person I want to be, the kind of person I will strive to be for the rest of my life. It’s funny, how much you continue to learn from someone after they’ve passed, the lessons continue to snowball through grief and acceptance and as the years pass you realize that you’ve become a better person because of that consciousness, because you haven’t forgotten them.

  3. It has been such an inspiration to read about this event in memory of Brett. The Jensen family have taken their grief and turned it into something so powerful and long lasting. Scholarships really do change peoples lives and we cannot think of a better way to remember Brett. We knew Brett from the day of his birth because he was born in the next room to our daughter Erin. We have always known Don, Jan and Megan to be so generous and inspirational. We hope that as the years continue to roll on they will find strength in friendship. In their sadness they have risen to create a beautiful legacy and we are so proud of them. They are a true gift to the Everett area.
