Thanks for help with Brett Jensen scholarship event

As seen in the Herald of Everett, OPINION, Sat, Sept 2, 2017-  LINK

The Brett Jensen Memorial Walk and Run 8 is in the books. Family, friends, neighbors, community members, athletes and coaches gathered at Everett’s Legion Memorial Park last Saturday to remember Brett, encourage health and fitness, raise some funds to continue the scholarship program, and have some fun.

All four goals were accomplished. The weather was wonderful and the 3.6 mile route down Alverson and Grand was beautiful. Carpe diem! We truly did seize the day.

We want to sincerely thank the Everett Parks and Police departments, the participants, the business sponsors, the volunteers and silent auction donors. All of these groups are critical to the success of this event.

In May, because of all of the support, The Brett Jensen Memorial Scholarship Foundation was able to award $15,000 in scholarship money through the Rotary Club of Everett and Cascade High School. Brett’s Run in The Herald

Julie Mulstein’s article in The Herald, Wed, Aug 23, 2017:

Brett Jensen would have turned 35 next week. A top student, ASB president and athlete in Cascade High School’s Class of 2001, he died the year after graduation. His life of achievement ended when he fell from a fraternity house near the University of Washington campus.

Zack Demars, another standout Cascade graduate, never had the chance to meet Jensen.

“I was just 2 years old when he passed away,” said Demars, 18, who on Monday was featured as The Herald’s Super Kid. “There’s no way I could have met him, but I’m so affected by his story. Everyone at Cascade is impacted. The Everett community is impacted.”……..
